Cloud FastPath Analytics Prove Essential in a Successful Migration
RealTerm Energy Powers a Migration to Egnyte with Cloud FastPath’s Powerful Analytics and Transfer Performance
“Thanks to Cloud FastPath, setting up and completing our migration to Egnyte was
much easier than expected, and the user interface is extremely intuitive,” – Chad Spannus, Real Term Energy
RealTerm Energy is a North American leader in providing LED lighting solutions, designed to maximize energy efficiency and cost savings for its municipal, commercial and industrial clients. They chose Egnyte Connect as its enterprise solution of record because of an internal initiative to make its own operations more collaborative, productive, and secure. This choice was based on Egnyte’s tight integration with RealTerm Energy’s preferred CRM, Salesforce, and fully integrated digital signature options. RealTerm Energy’s employees could access the CRM without having to leave the Egnyte web application, as well as create automated workflows between the two systems. Egnyte was also able to provide RealTerm Energy’s IT team with more flexible permissions capabilities.
Automated Cloud to Cloud Migration
When Egnyte was chosen, the company sought to move hundreds of GB of data for 55 users as quickly and efficiently as possible from Dropbox into Egnyte. It was known the migration would not be a simple task because of the numerous users, a complex folder structure, and the need to report on everything that was migrated or not migrated. In Cloud FastPath, RealTerm Energy found a data movement platform that’s capable of making their migration to Egnyte as efficient and intelligent as their lighting solutions.
With limited resources, RealTerm Energy could analyze and filter the source data, stream the data directly from Dropbox to Egnyte, and perform a final cutover sync. The migration’s su ccess was verified by Cloud FastPath’s thorough post-migration reporting.
“Thanks to Cloud FastPath, setting up and completing our migration to Egnyte was much easier than expected, and the user interface is extremely intuitive,” said Chad Spannaus, Director of Systems for RealTerm Energy. “Cloud FastPath has great dashboards that gave us a clear picture of the data transfer progress, time remaining, speed, and any errors involved. And its reporting capabilities make it very easy to understand what couldn’t get transferred, which means I don’t have to invest time validating the success of the migration.”
Retain Permissions While Moving to Egnyte
With the success of this initial Egnyte migration project, RealTerm Energy sees opportunity to take further advantage of Cloud FastPath’s permission mapping capabilities, which will allow it to more efficiently decommission local file systems and consolidate more users and data into Egnyte. This migration automation allows organizations to automatically map source content roles, groups and owners to Egnyte, which significantly reduces the friction of a migration.
