Configuring Your Source and Target Systems (Nodes)

When you create a data motion job, you must designate one system for your data source and a second system for your data target.  Depending on the types of systems you have selected, you may need to complete additional fields for your Source and Target Systems:

SOURCE ACCOUNT LIST  Select the account(s) you wish to transfer. Source Account List is not available on all systems.

EXPORT AND IMPORT – ACCOUNTS/FILE CHOOSER  The EXPORT button exports a full list of all accounts in the source or target accounts/file chooser. You may edit this list and then use the IMPORT button to import the list of accounts you wish to transfer.

  1. Open the Accounts Chooser. Click the Export button.
  2. The exported file won’t download until all accounts load into the chooser.  Save this file as your master copy of all users or directories available for that job.
  3. Open a copy of the .csv file in Excel and delete all users except the account(s) you want to select for the job. Save the file (MS-DOS csv’s have best results) and use the Import button to load the desired accounts into the accounts chooser.

CUT AND PASTE SELECTIONS Cut and Paste Selections enables you to add paths to the Accounts or File Chooser in a text editor format.  When you paste lists of emails or directories, they must be text based only – i.e., if you paste cells from Excel rather than a text editor, it will generate errors.  If you have an Excel sheet, simply save it as a .csv file and then open with a text editor before copying the data.

SOURCE FILES AND FOLDERS, SOURCE OBJECT NAME, SOURCE FOLDER/LIST NAME  Select the folder or file from the file chooser that you want to transfer. Be aware of any constraints on file number or size conferred by your cloud service provider or network when you select the file(s) for transfer.

TARGET ACCOUNT NAME, TEAM MEMBER NAME  Select the name of the target account to which you wish to transfer your data.

NOTES ON USING FILTERS IN ACCOUNT AND FILE CHOOSERS:  If you use the Search & Filter field in the upper right corner of the file chooser and it returns multiple entries, you must use <Ctrl><Click> to select those entries. Using <Shift><Click> may result in extraneous data being selected.

Remember that if you use the filter for selecting directories, it will still be in effect as you descend down the tree.  So if you do a filter for “directory” at the top level, the next level down will display “No files found” if none of the items match that filter.  You’ll need to clear the filter to see everything at the next level.

DESTINATION FOLDER, TARGET OBJECT NAME, TARGET FOLDER NAME  Select the folder name into which you wish to transfer your files on the target (destination) server. Below are guidelines on what to enter in the Source and Target Object/Folder Name fields:

/My Documents /My New Directory /My New Directory/My Documents

/My Documents/file.txt (file) <root> (/) /file.txt”

USE SHAREFILE SHARED FOLDER  Select this option if you want to access a shared folder in your ShareFile account. Shared Folders are in a separate tab from My Files & Folders in your ShareFile account:
